I played the game and my first impression was that the game is really I mean really well put. The movements of the players and the way they pass the ball are unbelievable. I think fifa finally got it right this time and by saying that I like to remind you all that this is still remains to be a demo so in the full version with the commentators and obviously with extra additions this game is going to be one of the best all time game. As the game is set to semi difficulty it’s heard to get the full potential of AI engine. But even with the semi difficulty the logic of the AI was impressive. I give 9 /10 for the game. I can understand why some people might of think this is feeling not like a fifa game is because when you have the ball u cannot run and zigzag players like previous edition. The game reacts realistically. My only say to fifa is if they can improve the animation and bring the next versions to 1080i or d than that would be great. Altogether I have to say although it’s a demo, this demo remains one of the best PS3 experiences I have ever had since the first day PS3 came out.

@Argento - Say it isn't so. This sluggish movement and slow ball speed was mentioned by yelp before. I HOPE THIS IS FIXED BY THE RELEASE OF THE GAME! Makes zero sense why they would slow the game down.

After waiting for so long for this demo I can give you my opinion on it. I played it this morning for around 2 hours before work. The first thing that must be said is that the tricks DO work well and ARE a nice addition to the game. The fact that u got unlimited time in the arena to bust some sick moves with Ronaldinho is a nice touch. The shooting has been improved somewhat but finesse shots are still too "lofty". The game itself seems to move in slow motion, and even at full sprint the players feel sluggish, maybe it's something one could get used to, but it didnt feel right. AI has improved DRAMATICALLY from 07 with players defending smartly and attckers running into space on their own. Passing works well but I got the impression that passes were too "weak", as if the ball was moving through "thick air" somehow, if that makes sense. I noticed that free kicks still have not got the options to bend the ball at will as in pro evo which is a shame. Animations are great as usual and graphics are pretty sick also. In summary, a definite improvement over Fifa 07 but I think Pro Evo is still king. WHY CANT FIFA GET IT RIGHT??????!!!!!

Thanks for the heads up on Pro Evo. I'll keep that in mind when I play it. Shame that the visuals aren't as slick, but when actually playing you forget the graphics anyways, it really is about the fun factor and the gameplay.

Sucks to hear about the "sprints feel like nothing more than a jog".

And I have to wait until Saturday since I'm going to be out of town tonight and tomorrow night. Grrr.

Well my guess is that it will run exactly the same on both. There really is no difference between this game and 07. And i don't know why, but they've really slowed down the pace of the game in this one. Full out sprints feel like nothing more than a jog.

Pro Evo doesn't have the slick visuals FIFA has, but thats the only area where it loses to FIFA. One thing I'll say to you though,if you plan on trying out Pro Evo, it's not an easy game to just pick up and play, you have to be patient with it. But when you start zipping the ball around, it's so much more satisfying than FIFA could ever be.

@yelp. Makes sense about the players "running in mud". I've gotten that on FIFA 07 on the Xbox (not the 360). There are some things that are a bit "aracade" I guess you can say. But now you have me worried and frustrated. And yea, the players at game start do look a little "wax" like, but I don't worry much about that. At least the crowd is actually 3D this time and not some cardboard/sprite.

Are you saying you downloaded the new demo and the gameplay/physics/feel of the game is STILL below Pro Evo? I really need to try the new Pro Evo when available. Hopefully (though not surely) they will fix more issues by the release of the game or with downloadable patches.

The only hope I have is still have is that you played it on the 360. It's "SUPPOSED" to be better on the PS3 (which is where I will play it). Apparently there was a team setup to work on the PS3 from the ground up. I don't see how much different it can be but I truly hope it IS better, even if only on the PS3.

Can anyone confirm?

@Tony. Believe me mate, once you get into Pro Evo there's simply no going back. Everything is much more fluid and more like the real game. The ball physics in FIFA is what really lets the game down, the way those longs passes just seem to float in the air, its the same as the crossing, it feels like its the computer doing it and not you. And it feels like the players are running in mud. Then there's the likeness of the players and apart from the Superstars, they look nothing like the real thing, they don't even look human a lot of the time, Look at Puyol and Neville when the players walk out before the game, looks absolutely nothing like them, which i can't understand, look at NBA and Madden, Why EA can get the players right for them games and can't for FIFA baffles me.
I was probably a little harsh in my post earlier, I'm just seriously pissed, because i really thopught this year was gonna see FIFA really challenge Pro Evo.

I'd love to see 2KSports have a go at making a football game. All there Sports games look and play brilliantly.

Oh and aztecbolt, I downloaded it on the 360, just setup a US account. Its simple to do.

@yelp - What exactly is it about FIFA that everybody hates on? The gameplay? While I've never played Pro Evo (though I plan to on their new version), I don't see how much gameplay would differ between the two games. Now that FIFA 08 is coming out with better gameplay/skill/moves I might see what everyones talking about. I guess I'm just the casual gamer who happens to love football (yes I call it football and I live in the U.S.A.) and thinks FIFA is REALLY fun, especially with friends.

@aztecbolt - I THINK he means a PS3 since he mentioned setting up a US account. Could be wrong though.

I'm in Europe and I'm downloading now. Just setup a US account. Bit strange that they would release it in the states first, seeing as they don't really get "Soccer". I think this game will suck like 07, but i was impressed by this years vids, so I'm gonna give it a go, will probably be rubbish, AS ALWAYS.

Just got to work but while at home the Playstation Network hadn't been updated. (it's 8:30am now, so that was around 7-7:30ish)

Sucks for me 'cause I'm going to be out of town tonight and tomorrow night. Oh well, Saturday/Sunday I'll have plenty of time to download and play.

You know... it might just be me but I'm not sure I want to play the demo at all. I kind of wanted to wait for the full game to be released. This would just be an unbearable tease! Especially considering that there's still a full month to the game release. *SIGH*
